About SD Labour Solutions

An HR and labour consultancy built around a simple idea: most workplace disputes are cheaper to prevent than to defend.

Who we are

Led by Shazia Desai

SD Labour Solutions works with South African employers who need HR done properly but cannot justify a full-time HR manager. We take on as much of the function as you need — from drafting the contracts you should already have, through to sitting in on a disciplinary hearing.

The work is hands-on and personal. You deal with the same consultant every month, who knows your business, your people and the history behind whatever landed on your desk this morning.

How we work

What you can expect

Get the foundation right first

Contracts, policies and employee files come before anything else. When those are in order, most of the problems that follow become far easier — and far cheaper — to resolve.

Follow the process, every time

A fair outcome reached the wrong way is still an unfair dismissal. We make sure the procedure is sound before the outcome is decided, not after it is challenged.

Plain language, not legalese

You will get advice you can act on, explained in terms your managers can apply, with the practical implications spelled out.

Available when it matters

Employment problems rarely arrive at a convenient time. HR advice by WhatsApp and email is included on every package for exactly that reason.

Who we work with

Small and medium employers across South Africa

Our packages are built around headcount, from businesses employing a handful of people through to those running an operation of fifty or more.

  • Businesses appointing their first employees and setting HR up from scratch
  • Growing companies where HR has quietly become somebody’s second job
  • Established SMEs that want a full outsourced HR department
  • Employers facing a specific matter — a hearing, a grievance, a referral
